Roofs in Finland

Libert Paints colours give warmth to Finland

Whoever thinks of Finland, immediately thinks of the words "cold" and "snow". During the winter it can be very cold. A look at the absolute minima shows that during the winter in Finland the temperature can drop to -30 degrees. The North has even extremes of -50 degrees. During the summer the temperature rises to 21 degrees, but drops at night to 9 degrees.

Finland has a continental climate, with precipitation in all months. A great part of Finland is more than half of the year covered with snow. In the North the first snow falls in October and remains about 7-8 months. February and March are usually the months that the ground is covered the most with snow. In Helsinki, the capital, the average snow cover is about 35 centimeters. In the country, even 60 to 90 cm snow can lie there!

Because of the heavy snowfall many people in Finland choose metal roofs. Due to the weather circumstances the choice between different types of roof is limited.
The Finns want, just like us, to give their home a personal look and they do so by playing with the colour of their roof.

Cryltane paints: perfect to endure the winter

For several years Libert Paints has been the supplier for these appropriate paints, that resist the harsh winter climate. Yearly, more than 100,000 sqm is protected with Cryltane.

First, the surface is degreased with a pressure washer, after which they locally derust. The derusted parts are first retouched with Cryltane AC Primer: this is a good anti-corrosion two-pack acrylic polyurethane paint with a good universal adhesion.
Once the derusted areas were retouched, Cryltane AC Primer is sprayed over the entire area until they obtain the desired result.
Besides the Cryltane AC Primer one can also choose a finish with higher gloss, using the Cryltane AC Satin.

Direct-to-substrate (DTS)

Cryltane paints are efficient and professional to work with: besides the high film thickness the one-pot system is an important asset. This is the direct-to-substrate or DTS principle: one product directly onto the painting surface is used. This instead of a multilayer system consisting of various types of paints. Therefore this gives a faster application, a short interval for a second layer as wet-on-wet spraying is possible, resulting in a higher yield with a lower cost for the overall project. Moreover, these paints are available in all colours with a color mixing system.
