More and more people are looking for alternative energy sources. Solar energy has become widely popular. Partly to decrease the high heating costs, partly because we become more conscious of the environment, we choose to isolate the roofing and possibly complete it with solar panels.
Libert Paints was asked to treat a flat outdated roofing in preparation for installing solar panels. Purpose was to maximize the reflection on the roof so that an optimum efficiency of the solar panels would be obtained and so that the lifetime of the roofing would extend. Besides that, the thermal insulation to the inside temperatures would increase significantly.
First, the roof was cleaned with a powerful disinfectant, Fungex, that already prooved its effectiveness in surpressing bacteria, fungi, algae and mosses. As the roofing showed many mildew, this action was not a luxury.
Polyroof Intermediate is a thick barrier layer that prevents migration of bitumes from out of the roofing. The low solvent content of Polyroof Intermediate explains the limited damage to the roofing and the low emissions. Thanks to the extreme high elasticity of Polyroof Intermediate, the coating follows exactly the movements of the roofing, which helps to prevent cracking and leakage.
By applying Mixtane Roof White afterwards, the white color is obtained. This brings a maximum reflection on the roof, which provides the highest efficiency of the operation of the solar panels. White reflects all the sunlight and black absorbs it. The conservation of reflection over time is guaranteed here. The degree of elasticity is the same as Polyroof Intermediate which excludes cracks in the coating. Because of the reflection, the thermal insulation inside is improved. The maximum yield is thus obtained with a minimum investment!
