Nuclear companies are subjected to strict legislation. With its 8500 employees worldwide, Westinghouse is a pioneer in the nuclear sector: worldwide 50%, in America even 60% is based on their technology. Westinghouse Europe now has a new service centre in Nivelles (Belgium) for the maintenance and repair of pumps and motors. From this plant all nuclear clients in West-Europe will be served.
After long testing modules, the wall and floorpaints of Libert Paints finally met the strict requirements.
On the walls, the universal water thinnable primer Hydroprim was first applied. This quick drying odorless primer impregnates, fixes and isolates the surface. For better impregnation this primer was diluted with Aquafix. Aquafix provides excellent penetration, a high binding capacity and excellent ventilation properties.
As finishing coat the waterborne coating Aquapox was applied. Thanks to its good chemical resistance, its bacteriostatic and fungistatic nature, Aquapox is the ideal finish for walls that have to be decontaminated thoroughly. Consequently, this is the ideal top coating for nuclear companies, pharmaceutical companies, hospitals, laboratories,...
As the floors should be able to carry heavy equipment, a flexible paint system with high impact and vibration resistance was required. This paint system also had to offer the possibility to decontaminate the floors thoroughly. A classic epoxy paint system that would commonly be used, exhibits rapid securities and does not meet the specifications.
Durotane Primer Textur is the ideal primer adhesion: thanks to the presence of a grain texture in the paint, the adhesion with the self-levelling top coat is strengthened. Thereupon Durotane SH 60 was applied. This self-levelling coating is characterized by its elastic properties which prevent damaging by brittleness. Durotane SH 60 is implemented as a seamless, abrasion resistant coating for various surfaces such as floors for all kinds of workplaces, floors of trucks, mobile units,... As finishing coat Polytop Satin was applied: this top coat is marked by a very good wear resistance, chemical resistance and color and gloss retention.
